Our history
Burbage shows a hunger for singing

On the 24th September 2014 our founding Musical Director, Steve Johnson, hired the Meeting Room at Burbage Methodist Church and publicised a free workshop to come and try learning to sing using the 'Natural Voice' method. By 7:15 pm 55 people had arrived and it was necessary to move upstairs to the Church. In total 92 people attended.
At the end of the session, with a show of hands 'Harmonic Voices' was born. Volunteers came forward to run the administration of the Choir and we were in business! Numbers fluctuated over the first few weeks. The choir has now settled out to a membership of 50+ and performed in a variety of events including the Community Choirs Festival, Leicester Sing for Water and the Winter Warmer in Burbage Parish Church. In the summer of 2019 we went on our first away trip and joined  with Abertillery Orpheous Male Voice and Ladies choirs for a joint concert in the Welsh valleys. The choir has matured in a remarkably short time.

Carl Hodson took over the role of Musical Director in September 2019.
We kept going online through the pand
emic and then returned to in person singing and concerts in aid of the Ukraine in 2022 and the Syria / turkey earthquake appeal in 2023, amongst others.

Carl is now moving on and we will welcome our new musical director Tim Clay for the Summer 2023 term.
